The transformative nature of recovery from drugs and alcohol addiction

I have decided to do a research paper based on ‘The transformative nature of recovery from drugs and alcohol addiction’. Addiction from drugs calls for various transformative stages that a person has to undergo in order to become fully sober from drug use. The nature of humans to be subjects of addiction has therefore called for the study of the various stages that one has to pass through in the event of quitting drug use of which may include relapse and eventually returning to the same state of abusing drugs.

Death, myths and love have a significant influence to the work. The abuse of drugs have for a long time claimed the lives of the users and therefore there is a need to come up with a strategy that will at least help in curbing the menace. Similarly, myths do exist on how the drug addicts are treated in the societies to which they live arising the need to also inform the public that the users are part of the community and are people just like us. Furthermore, the love of humans needs to be restored by regaining the dignity of the user. The society must not stigmatize the individuals but rather aid in changing the habitual drug use.

Some of the concepts to be discussed in the essay include:

Addiction- The art of being used to drugs such that one can’t do anything without them

Relapse- Slipping away from a transformational process and getting back to the unwanted state

Tolerance- The minimum amount of dose that is required to attain the same effect from a drug

Stigmatization- Being separated and treated as not being one of the society to which one lives

Recovery- The process of becoming better from a previously worse state such as from addiction to a normal person.
