What do Paine and Bentham respectively mean by happiness? Would a “happy†person as described by Paine be “happy†according to Bentham’s standards? Conversely, could Bentham’s “happy†individual be “happy†from Paine’s perspective? Why or why not in each case? Explain clearly the rationale behind your response.
