Work & Technology Assessment Task 1: Critical review Details of task: Choose three of the topics listed below and provide a short discussion (of about 500 words for each) in terms of relevant sociological debates around your chosen topic. Your responses should consist of short answers organised into well-referenced paragraphs. • Team working; • Changes in worker vs. managerial control; • Flexibility; • Collective vs. individual forms of worker resistance; • Skills and ‘deskilling’; • Professional labour; • Trade unions; • Technological determinism. The assessment will be based on: your summary of relevant sociological debates surrounding the respective theme, presentation of a sociologically informed evaluation of conclusions found in the texts about the selected themes, your ability to critically evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the arguments found in the readings concerning the respective themes.
