Levels of prevention   

  The prevention of health issues is one of the elements that assist in the improvement of general health in the community (Beck et al., 2018). There are three levels of prevention for health issues. These prevention levels are Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary preventions. These preventions help to reduce any risk or threats to someone’s health. The selection of the most appropriate level of prevention in health promotion plays an essential role in ensuring that the community can overcome the significant health issues that they may face like diabetes.

         Primary prevention is one of the well-known methods that can be used to prevent the medical conditions of a person. The objective of primary prevention is to preclude diseases or injuries before their occurrence. The primary prevention is done by the fore fending of hazards and the exposure to risks that may contribute towards injuries or diseases. Since diabetes is one of the most complex conditions that the community may suffer, the primary prevention methods are influential in improving the exposure that the people may have towards the prevention of diabetes. Training people regarding the need to engage in physical activities as well as checking on their diet is an appropriate method of preventing the condition.

         Secondary prevention refers to the approach that is used to manage the impact of an injury or a disease that has occurred (Zelniker et al., 2019). After the condition in question is diagnosed, the medical team and other health promoters are involved with the analysis of the impact involved with the crisis. This analysis assists in the development of an approach that may lead to active treatment. After the diagnosis of diabetes, it is essential that the team puts in place measures that may assist in ensuring that the patient with the condition can manage it. Diet and exercise programs are part of the most important approaches that medical practitioners argue about when addressing the situation. Other methods that are put in place for patients with diabetes are the regular exams that may assist in learning about the progress of the condition.

         For the cases where the condition may advance to an extended example, it necessitates the development of measures that may assist in softening the effects involved with the ongoing health condition at the tertiary level. Diabetes is among the medical conditions that are associated with having more long term effects that may require the application of high levels of strategies in managing them. Also, stroke rehabilitation programs are among the most appropriate tertiary prevention programs that may make it possible for the team to overcome diabetes in patients with the disease successfully. For the patients who may have emotional effects of diabetes, the use of support groups plays a critical role in the prevention of the emotional impact of diabetes.

Improvement of health by addressing population health concerns in the communities we serve is important in improving compliance with patients effected. There are several public health platforms that support your statement that Diabetes is a complex disease. Diabetes is one of the many chronic diseases that warrants continued research and awareness for all communities in the United States. With continued awareness the health care team is able to engage and connect with the patients within the communities to address preventative health care education and improve quality measures related to the prevention of or improved care of a patient already diagnoses with diabetes. On the public health website in my community diabetes has it’s on page that share a list of classes that are offered regarding lifestyle changes to help prevent diabetes and improve the management of diabetes. Do they currently offer these classes in your community? Do you feel these classes are effective in engaging the community to improve overall health of patients that are at risk of being diagnosed with diabetes? The information shared focuses on diet, exercise and blood sugar monitoring.
