Local Health

In their journal, Frush et al. (2018) noted that in local health facilities, the implementation of quality health programs helps in the improvement of the quality of services that are offered by the respective healthcare unit (pp. 389 – 400). In the NYC department of health and mental hygiene, Dr. Oxiris Barbot serves as the Commissioner of Health, where she has the role of implementing changes as well as overseeing the operations that are carried out in the department. Among the services that the NYC health department is responsible for is the provision of quality services that can assist in the management of the psychological conditions that the patients in this community may face. One of Dr. Barbot’s roles of the department includes the assessment of the department’s performance as well as the provision of some of the elements that may be required to ensure the continued functionality of the department. According to Rivela, Pagaoa, Molinari, Morgenthau, and LeBlanc (2018), in the city region of New York, NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene uses the locally available resources to ensure that there is an improvement in the overall health outcome of this community (pp. 290-296).

The organizational structure of the Health department consists of the commissioner, who is responsible for overseeing the operations of the entire department. The director works closely with the lead doctors who are assigned different tasks in the organization. Besides, the specialists of lower ranks also relate well with the patients to ensure that they analyze some of the areas that the organization may need to improve in the attempt to enhance the performance of the firm (Greer et al., 2018). In this organization, there are multiple areas that the department addresses that helps in the improvement of overall health outcome as well as ensuring that there is adequate management of health challenges. To be able to align with the requirements as stated by the federal government, the managerial team in this department ensures that all the practices carried out do not go against the requirements as stated out by the department of health.

In comparison to the other departments in the stated organization, the decision making processes in the departments as well as the other agencies is relatively similar since they all depend on the high management to decide. Collaboration between different stakeholders is another way that the two agencies correlate, and in this, the relationship assists in ensuring that they may lead to the improvement of performance. The use of medical insurance is every day in the two organizations, which makes it possible for the development of the health outcome. The government, as well as external investors,contribute funding towards the performance of these organization. However, the number of patients served differs across the two agencies. Since the department that deals with obesity is a sensitive sector, the organization is relatively complex as compared to the department that deals with mental hygiene to ensure that the condition is adequately managed.
