Read a Case Study in Strategic Financial Planning in Health Service Organizations.Reflect on the study and discuss:

1. How the Strategic Financial Planning process is similar or different from general healthcare strategic planning process?

2. Write about the data and information necessary for successful financial strategic planning. Who is responsible for the collection, processing, and conclusions of this data and information?

3. What are the consequences of using flawed evidence in decision making and strategic planning process?

You must start a thread before you can read and reply to other threads

Domestic Violence

In this discussion, we’re going to take a look at issues associated with reporting known or suspected cases of child abuse.

According to the American Psychological Association Presidential Task Force on Violence and the Family, “Surveys of health care professionals, including mental health providers, indicate that professionals often fail to report identified child maltreatment, despite being trained to identify child abuse and neglect. Many professionals indicate that they do not believe others will follow through to provide the help needed by a family coping with violence.” (APA, 1996, p. 63)

For the purposes of this discussion, choose a state that you are interested in and respond to all of the following questions and at least 2 of your classmates’ posts.

Helpful web site:

Child Welfare Information Gateway https://www.childwelfare.gov/topics/systemwide/laws-policies/state/

Name of State:

1. How is child abuse defined in the statute?

2. Who are the mandated reporters?

3. Is any group specified as “exempt”? If yes, please explain

4. What are the penalties for failing to report?

5. Are child witnesses to domestic violence addressed in the statute? If yes, please explain

6. Do you think there is ever a good reason for a professional to fail to report child abuse?

Disability Study

What is Sensory Disability?

A sensory disability is a condition that affects one or more senses, such as sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste, or spatial and awareness. Sight and deafness are common sensory disabilities as well as Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) involving one or more senses. Often a sensory disability is referred to as a sensory impairment or a sensory sensitivity. A person does not have to have a full loss of a sense to be sensory impaired, and a person may have two or more sensory impairments at the same time.

Many people diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders have sensory sensitivities, which can mean difficulties in processing everyday sensory information such as sounds, lights, sights, and smells. Any of the senses may be over-or-under sensitive, or both, at different times. These sensory differences can affect behavior and can have a profound effect on a person’s life.

A Dual Sensory Impairment (DSI) is the combination of both hearing and sight impairment, but this does not necessarily mean a total loss of both senses. Most people with a dual sensory impairment such as ASD and blindness or ASD and deafness do have some level of vision and or hearing. In some cases, dual sensory impairments may not include ASD and are referred to as being deaf-blind when the impairment causes difficulties with communication and hearing. The combination of the two sensory impairments intensifies the impact of each other. Meeting the needs of people who are deaf-blind often requires a specialized approach and individualized communication methods such as tactile sign language.

The Learning Resources for this week will provide you with information to enhance your understanding of Sensory Disabilities and its related Sensory Integration. After reviewing the learning resources, please answer the following questions and identify each answer/Part correctly:

Part I.

Watch Video JUST ASK – Sensory Disabilities awareness. A short video to raise awareness about Sensory Disabilities. Explain your reaction to its content and did you lean?

YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LU0dQXJ-YQM

Part II.

  1. How would you define Sensory Disabilities (Impairments) in general?
  2. Please define two examples of sensory disabilities.

Part III. Please respond to the following questions:

    1. What are some of the major factors that affect a person with a diagnosis of a Sensory Disability? Please explain and illustrate with two or more examples (different than in Part II).
    1. What type of assistance would a person with a sensory disability need? Explain by choosing one example of a sensory disability such as Visual or Deafness.
    1. How would you interact with a person with a Sensory Disability? Example: Autism Spectrum Disorders or Dual Sensory Impairments such and blind-deaf.

3. Once you have posted your responses to the above video and questions, please respond to the posts of at least two other classmates.

Thank you.
