1) This photo of five people viewing lower Manhattan across the east river from Brooklyn drew a lot of controversy when it was first released in 2006. 2) This Tom Ford ad uses the blatant sexualization of women to sell cologne.
3) This cover of The Economist shows a solitary President Obama on the Louisiana beach inspecting the oil spill. The original photo, shot by Reuters photographer Larry Downing shows Coast Guard Admiral Thad W. Allen and Charlotte Randolph, a local parish president, standing alongside the President.
The heading of your essay must include the name of the image your are analyzing, and which option you are using to do your analysis. Whichever of the following two approaches you choose, the essay must be a minimum of 2000 words, posted directly into Moodle (no Word documents or emails accepted). If you cut and paste your text from a Word document, be sure to reformat it, because Moodle will usually not recognize the formatting. This assignment is worth 30 points, so be as thorough as possible.
