A. You are CHOOSE a TOPIC for your PSA.
B. CHOOSE a TOPIC this is important to the UAE and can be any:

• Health; or
• Lifestyle; or
• Any topic of importance to the UAE.
C. You will research and write a paper of 800 WORDS (2 to 3 pages) as the BACKGROUND on your chosen topic.

PART ONE:
1. Identify your topic…….?
2. Choose at least 3 PSA commercials, (include the links in your paper)

3. Discuss the power of media in:
• Shaping (How the commercial SHAPES our ideas and opinions?)
• reflecting; and (Does the commercial just REFLECT our ideas?)
• manipulating (Does the commercial MANIPULATE you (force you to look at your ideas about a subject)
• peoples views within EACH of the of these PSA Commercials.

4. Discuss the methods used by the filmmakers to BRING ATTENTION to the issues and messages of the PSA. (for example: did they communicate the message by either shock, humor or manipulating your emotions.)
5. How successful do you think these PSA’s are?

PART TWO:
1. SELECT UAE SAFETY, HEALTH or LIFESTYLE ISSUE to RESEARCH for your OWN PSA
2. Do research your chosen issue to gain a clear understanding of the community health issue and its causes.
3. Establish what are the:
• Demographics (who does the commercial appeal to, what gender, what culture, what age groups, what class group, etc.)
• Attitudes (the ideas people have formed about the SUBJECT from their own ideas, family and cultural influences and education
• Assumptions of the target group (assumptions are what you assume – or guess – about the SUBJECT based on information you have heard or read about).
4. Develop YOUR OWN CONCEPT for your PSA and write a brief treatment (outline, briefly describing WHAT WOULD SEE IN THE PSA COMMERICAL).
5. Briefly describe WHY your PSA Commercial appeals to your demographics by using statistics (data and figures) to support WHY your topic is important for the UAE to make as YOUR PSA commercial.
