I will likely end up teaching this class again next semester in the same room.  It has been a cool summer, but am a little worried that our classroom will be too hot late in the spring and want to know now, so proper steps can be taken to make sure the room is comfortable. You can help by performing the energy balance of a full classroom.  We have 37 people in our class (including the instructor).  The building is cooled by air conditioning units that provide 5 kW of cooling capacity.  Each person dissipates about 360 kJ/h.  There are about 35 light bulbs in the room, each with a rating of about 40 W.  The rate of heat transfer through the walls and windows to the room will probably be around 15,500 kJ/h.  Determine the total number of air conditioning units needed to maintain the room at 22 ^oC

Problem 2: 

A bird weighing 1.7 kg leaves the ground and flies to a height of 70 m, where it attains a velocity of 22 m s^-1. What is the change in energy involved in this process.
