Students will choose a person of interest for this assignment that she or he would like to assess. This person can be alive, dead, a family member or a friend. Students will write a professional assessment using information gathered from multiple sources on the individual to support her or his theoretical claims. Multiple sources include peer-reviewed scholarly journal articles, books, and personal artifacts, such as birth certificates, baptism records, or similar materials. Students must choose Three (3) theories that are covered in class, textbook or in the assigned readings and apply those theories to their person of interest. In order to demonstrate an understanding of the theories, students must incorporate key concepts of the theories within the assignment and provide concrete evidence to support her or his application of theories to the person of interest. In order to demonstrate an understanding of oppression and discrimination, students must identify at least two events in the life of their person of interest that suggests the individual may have experienced oppression and or discrimination based on race or ethnicity, gender, age, ability, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, or political affiliation. If a student decides to interview a person currently living, the student must provide proof of the interview in the form of a photograph with a current date stamp, copy of an email, or a copy of a text message. Writing The paper should be 5-6 pages in length, excluding title page and references, and be written in an essay format – bullets or an array of numeric numbers are not allowed. The paper should be double-spaced with standard margins (1 inch to all sides), a 12-point Times New Roman font, page numbers, and stapled. Page number should begin with the cover/title page. Follow the APA style. Attempts to make the paper look longer by skipping lines or widening the margins will affect your grade negatively. Do not use bulleting or outline form at any time in the paper.
