Strategic Management Paper
Write a strategic management plan, double-spaced, 12 point Times New Roman font, 1-inch margins using APA format. Include a table of contents.
The paper will be submitted in parts with the final paper as part 4. You may write this for a fictional or real organization or perhaps one that you work for. The organization must be approved by the instructor prior to starting.
My strategic management paper should be on a fictional internal medicine outpatient clinic called Avalanche Internal Medicine. This is an INTERNAL medicine practice that deals with patients between the ages of 45 years old and up. Majority of the patient base is on Medicare 65+ and some on Medicaid as well as secondary and primary insurances that pay more than Medicare and Medicaid.
Part I – COMPLETE
Part II – The Direction and Goals of the Organization (Chapters 5, 6, 7) What are the mission and vision of your organization? Identify the strategic alternatives your organization will pursue. Discuss why these are the appropriate strategies for the organization. Include the following (mission, vision, critical success factor, strategic goals, values, competitive strategy, internal development).
Part III – Supporting Initiatives (Chapters 8 and 9) Create value-adding service delivery and support strategies that will support the overall directional, adaptive, market entry and competitive strategies of the organization. The use of graphs, illustrations, diagrams, tables, and pictures are permissible in this assignment. If you are seeking a more desirable grade for this assignment, I would suggest you include one or all of the previously mentioned items in your paper. Include the following (market research, services, point-of-service strategy, Pre-service strategy).
Part IV – The final paper should combine the three parts already completed and include any changes suggested by your peers. In addition, you need to include an executive summary and a Balanced Scorecard.
Additional Information
This announcement post is the due to several student statements/questions made about the Strategic Plan Paper. First, the Strategic Plan assignment will not be limited in length, but remember, “Brevity is the soul of wit” (from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Act 2, Scene 2). The instructor expects to receive a well-written, content driven and CONCISE document. The Strategic Plan assignment is not a research paper about Strategic Management.
Do not include definitions of the course content from the text in the paper. The Strategic Plan should be written to address an audience of upper-level, management persons, as you might find on any hospital’s Board of Directors. Think about the content you would need or want to see if you were sitting on a board making organizational decisions about a strategic plan.
Also, consider the format delivery of information. Sometimes writing is not the best way to get information across to stakeholders and leadership. The use of graphs, illustrations, diagrams, tables, and pictures are permissible in this assignment. If you are seeking a more desirable grade for this assignment, I would suggest you include one or all of the previously mentioned items in your paper.
The written Strategic Plan will be graded on: format, grammar, spelling, logic, clarity, content, consistency, relevance to readings and assignments, directness, clearly stated problems, suggested improvements, alternative analysis, and logical conclusions.
Also, this is the last warning on this issue…..DO NOT use “I” statement in your papers or discussion boards posts. Do not use statement similar to the following: “I think”, “I believe”, “I feel”, “I agree”, “My next example”, “It seems to me”, “The way I see it”, “In this paper I will”, “In my opinion”, “In my reflection”, etc. These types of statements weaken your writing and your argument. Using any wording similar to the previously mentioned examples in the discussion board posts and papers will result in an automatic grade deduction.
