Surgical Technology Application Essay

When I was eleven, my mother became pregnant with my little sister. I remember her labor pains began at night, and my father was on a night shift at that time. I called an ambulance that came and took her to the hospital. Once we got to the hospital, the doctor said that my mother had some complications and could not deliver normally; thus, they had to do a cesarean section to save her life and that of the baby. I observed medical professionals attend to her and prepare her for the surgery. Even though I was only eleven, I was impressed by the great self-confidence and precision displayed by the medical teams. Since then, I have found the idea of surgery fascinating, and I look forward to working as a member of this life-saving team that transforms lives daily.

One of the things that interests me most about surgical technology is that it serves as an avenue to improve my medical skills and save and improve lives. In addition, I believe that working as a surgical technologist may allow for opportunities to work with various technologies and emerging scientific advancements. I have always found it appealing to work with technology since technology emphasizes breaking new ground, and as a surgical technologist, I will be able to develop new and inventive concepts. Besides, I believe my commitment to becoming a surgical technologist will benefit the surgeons since I will ensure they can rely on my expertise. Another thing that interests me about this field is that working as a surgical technologist feels satisfying since every time you enter the operation room, you are helping people and making a difference in their lives.

Although I know surgical technologist is a rewarding medical career that grows continually with its endless opportunities in practice, I know the journey will not be smooth-sailing. Thus, I have developed a personal plan to ensure that any life issues I will encounter during the study program will not affect my attendance at your institution. I plan to set the main goal, which I purpose to accomplish at the end of the year. To ensure that I will work towards achieving my main goal, I will set monthly goals that align with my theme. Besides, to complete my yearlong process, I plan to get and stay organized and ensure that I work towards achieving my set goals. I will make it a point to separate the planning of my personal life from that of my professional life so that I can ensure that the problems in my personal life do not interfere with my ability to attend school. I am going to make sure that I keep my personal life and my professional life separate. Besides, I plan to maintain a school-life balance and ensure that I have enough time to do my things while still ensuring that I do not miss my classes.
