Sport Pyschology

Demonstrate an understanding of the psychological, social and emotional factors that impact sport/performance. Acknowledge the importance of the teacher/student and coach/athlete relationship. Apply performance enhancement strategies within the sport and performance setting.

Think about a time when you were involved in a sport (either an individual or team sport) and describe 5 behavioural or psychological problems that you and/or the team experienced throughout the season. After reflecting on your experiences answer the following questions:

What strategies, discussed throughout this unit, could you have recommended to the coach that would have helped improve the team’s or individual’s performance? You must recommend at least one strategy for each problem identified.

1) Write a brief description of the problems that were experienced.
2) Propose at least one strategy that could be implemented to address each problem identified.
3) Justify why you have chosen each strategy for each problem area identified (use a theoretical framework to support your rationale).
4) Explain how you would have implemented each strategy if you were the coach (describe the procedure).
5) Discuss the recommended time to implement the strategy.
