The text that you will be analyzing is a song of your own choosing.  You will analyze this song (music, words, style, and voice) as it relates to a specific time in your life. Please include a copy of the song lyrics with your paper (these do not count towards your word count).

The first step in writing this essay is to pick a song.  Make sure that you choose one that attempts to influence the audience (you) in significant ways (whether by appealing to logic, emotions/values and/or credibility).

Format: 1000 words minimum, 12 pt. Times New Roman font, typed and double-spaced with 1” margins. Please place under your name the actual word count of your document. Please provide a youtube.com link of your song

Once you have selected a song to focus on for your analysis essay, consider the following general questions as you begin the process of analyzing it:

1. What is your general impression of the design and presentation of the song (including any musical components and/or lyrics of the song)?
2. What are the important musical elements?
3. What is the relationship between music and lryrics?
4. In what ways does the design appeal to your logic/reason/emotion?
5. Does the credibility of a company or an individual play a role in this song?
6. Do any associated images assume people have prior knowledge about what they represents?
7. How would you describe the message/impact of the song?
8. Do you feel like the song achieves its intended impact?

As you begin writing the first draft of your visual analysis, please use the following outline to help you get started:

• Briefly describe the song you are analyzing
  • Describe the medium & genre
  • Who produced it?  When/where did it first appear?
  • Make a claim about the song
  • Analyze the song’s context(the bigger picture/history/events surrounding it)
  • Analyze the lyricsof the song Build a strong conclusion
