Reliability of Evidence

Learning Objective: This topic is vital to the understanding of challenges facing today’s Criminal Justice professional: many of the standard investigative tools—confessions, lineups, etc.—have been found to be inherently unreliable. As the articles below demonstrate, DNA has put the lie to the “perfectness” of many ‘proofs of guilt.

To make matters even worse, the last article is a sober analysis of yet another overarching issue: many prosecutors resist post-conviction appeals!  Even where DNA establishes ‘actual innocence’, prosecutors and other law enforcement professionals oppose retroactive reviews of convictions.

Please submit a five page paper on these issues, and how investigative and other techniques are changing as a result.  A minimum of 5 resources from the links below must be incoorperated into your paper
