Assessment Format: Reflective essay written in the first person.

Assessment Task: To write this assignment you are required to analyse the learning experience that you

received by participating in the presentation. The presentation task was — Consider that you are a

group of Trainee Market Analysts( in my group were 4 girls) whose manager requires you to analyse the

market position and financial performance of the Orange company(mobile network) for the last 5 years.
The reflective essay should be structured and based on Honey and Mumford’s Learning Styles theory.

The focus of this reflection should be on:
1. Teamwork (we suggest that you use Tuckman’s and / or Belbin’s theories to develop arguments about

your teamwork);
2. The subject of your presentation (evaluate how your knowledge and understanding of the subject of

your presentation developed as you went through the four stages of Honey and Mumford’s (Kolb’s)

learning cycle);
3. Your learning style (explain clearly and support your conclusions with arguments as to whether your

learning style is balanced or not and which style(s) is (are) your most preferable).

The marking criteria:
20%?Research and Referencing – please make sure that you use Harvard Referencing system. Harvard

referencing system consists of two parts: references in the test and references at the end of the text.

We will look at how well and how appropriately you select, use and reference the theories in your essay

and how well the theories you choose support your arguments. Use as many appropriate theories

(references) as possible to support your arguments. Use only reliable and academic literature sources.
10%?Introduction – your introductory paragraph should follow general academic guidelines. You need to

clearly explain what are the purpose and the structure of your paper. In other words introduce your

reflective essay clearly (‘say what you are going to say’) and don’t keep your reader wondering about

the content of your essay.
10%?Conclusion – your concluding paragraph should emphasise the main ideas of your essay. Do not

simply summarise all of the points in your essay. Emphasise how you have addressed the purpose of this

assignment. Since your reflective essay is based on Honey and Mumford’s Learning Style theory you will

need to explain your learning style clearly in the concluding paragraph.
10%? Presentation – make sure that your essay looks professional. Your title page should contain the

following: University of Westminster, module code and title – BKEY401 Professional Competences,

student name and ID number, word count, submission date, the title of the essay – Reflective essay on

presentation, the seminar leader name (see Appendix 1 as an example). Include page numbers. Make sure

that your font is consistent, use Arial 12 or a similar font. The spacing between the lines should be 1.5 or

2 lines. Leave a bigger margin on the right (3cm or more) to allow the markers to write comments in

Turnitin.
50%?Content and structure – you are required to use Honey and Mumford’s Learning Styles theory as a

structure for your essay. Your essay should demonstrate a flowing logic and a depth of arguments. We

will look at the structure of the whole essay and the structuring of separate paragraphs and sentences.
