Pet Food Store Business Idea-Discussion

The business idea I will create is a pet food store. I have always been interested in contributing to society and since I love pets, this would be a perfect opportunity to attain that milestone. An animal pet store would be a great idea as it is not very capital-intensive to establish. I intend to start a pet food as an online shop and eventually expand it to have a physical location. I will leverage technology and the internet of things to source for clients and sell my products. I will not just cater to cat and dog owners, but I will also sell bird food and food consumed by exotic pets too. I will build and position my pet store around the theme of supplying natural foods, healthy foods and foods containing special nutritional needs brought by health issues or life stages. My strategy is to mix the most renowned food brands with those that are less known that I feel will appeal to my customer base.

Regarding the growth phase, I intend to expand the business from being online-based to having a physical location with several employees on a payroll. I will continue taking orders both online and accepting walk-ins. I will cultivate the use of social media, including Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook and a website, to find clients and push business. I will work with pet food manufacturers that are willing to ship products directly to my clients to avoid delays.

For the physical location of the pet food store, I will find a spot with good visibility in my city. I will set up the shot in my city because I already have first-hand information about the number of people who own pets and I know that there is no other online store that has a physical location. I will ensure that the physical location of my store will be more than 5 miles apart from the nearest store to reduce competition. I have also started learning about pet nutrition to give my store a competitive advantage. I plan to make sure my clients get wholesome foods for their pets as they cannot get such advice in supermarkets. I will also have a customer reward system that will help me reward return- clients by giving them free dry food for every nine bags purchased.

I will use the strategies mentioned earlier as, depending on my market survey, they are the easiest way to help my business gain traction and expand. I have researched my target location and identified the gaps that are already existing pet food stores have failed to bridge. I am confident that I can knock out my competitors and establish dominance in the market with patience and consistency.
