This is my PICOT format: 1. Population is school age children with diagnosis of asthma and with existing state (NJ)approved school asthma treatment 2. Intervention is the use of a peak flow meter and medications before school begin, before and after gym 3.Comparison with no peak flow reading before school starts, before and after gym 4. Outcome decreased incident of asthma exacerbation as measured by a peak flow meter 5. Timeframe is in a school year This is my PICOT question: In school age children, how can a peak flow reading and the use of medication before school starts, before and after gym reduce the incidents of asthma exacerbation in a school year? With an intervention PICOT question, the level of research evidence to answer the question will include but not limited to randomized controlled trials, non-randomized controlled trials, case controlled studies, meta-synthesis and descriptive single studies (Melnyk, B. M., & Fineout-Overholt, E., 2011). In the paper evaluate the strength of the evidence; show me which hierarchy of evidence schema you are using, and why you chose that rating schema.
