Based on the case study, Pat’s applicants need to have strong interpersonal skills, they need to be confident, and they need to show poise and initiative. Besides, his recruits are expected to be involved in fiduciary responsibilities, and for this reason, Pat looks for applicants with proper ethics, including a strong sense of the importance of confidentiality. Other characteristics that are important to Pat is that applicants need to have a strong analytical and technical skills, as well as experience in working with computers. All employees are required to show a good work ethic, and are required to show commitment and willingness to do their job even in difficult circumstances. All these are necessities required for bank employees as they are dealing with fiduciary responsibilities.

The bank might be demanding more from the employees than it is willing to give them, and this has resulted to discontent among the employees. Finally, the working conditions might be stressing the employees, with longer working hours and no flexible schedules, compelling employees to seek organizations offering better remuneration and working conditions.

If I were Pat, I would not change the recruitment approach, as it has highlighted the best criteria required for bank employees. Instead, I would engage the management to look at other issues that might be possible causes of the low retention rate.
