Part 1 Research Proposal Decide on a research topic to start out with and write two research statements that address the topic in different ways. You might try using different examples or different theoretical perspectives.Write two research statements using the following format discussed in Chapter 3 of Booth, Colomb, and Williams (2008):Topic: I am studying ___________________ Question: because I want to find out what/why/how__________________________ Significance: in order to better understand ________________________________Make these questions as different as possible without loosing sight of the topics/ideas you care about. Imagine that these are for a paper with a 2400 word limit. Use concrete and specific examples of events, technologies, and people to focus your topic to the proper limit. You will lose points if your research statement requires a book (100s of pages) to fully answer. To help you develop your research questions read through Chapter 3 of Booth, Colomb, and Williams (2008), From Topics to Questions. For your research statements list twelve (12) journalistic questions and seven (7) analytical questions using the categories Booth et al. (2008) discuss in section 3.3 of the reading. You should answer some of the journalistic/analytical questions to hone your statement so it isn’t too broad. If you can answer your question easily or with little investigation then you should either focus your statement more or ask more probing questions. You should iterate through this process a few times for each statement. Please note that these research questions do not have to become your actual topic. You have time to explore and get a better feel for what kinds of questions and topics are asked in the field of computer and information ethics. Part 2 Social Science Journals InstructionsFind a set of at least three (3) articles as candidates for annotation. Prof. Francisco will provide you with some basic search criteria on where to look. For example, for this first Annotation select your articles from the journal Ethics and Information Technology (链接到外部网站。).Provide the correct APA reference to the articles. Remember APA requires a DOI or stable URL if you accessed the materials online. Choose one of the three articles to annotate and indicate your choice with a asterisk* next to the reference.Write a 150 word narrative about how you searched for the articles and why you chose the one article to annotate. Tell us what other articles were interesting but didn’t make the cut. Please reference those articles using APA format.Read the abstract of your chosen article carefully. If the abstract leaves you confused then read the introduction and/or background section of the article.Write a summary of what you think the author wants you to learn about if you read the entire article carefully. What do the authors want to convince you of? Also address how the authors’ argument relates to ethics.Write two questions that you would hope to learn more about after reading the entire article. Next search through the text and find quotes that provide the author’s opinion on the subject, answer the question, or help you in your search for answers by giving some clues on how to go about discovering more about the problem/questions. Sometimes you find that there is a different language, vocabulary, or approach to even asking the questions. These are what you want to capture in your quotes. Be sure to include quotation marks and page numbers. Finally, look in the bibliography and select two references that would be useful for later reading. In one or two sentences for each reference tell us why those articles are interesting and/or useful for you.RubricAPA citation of target article – 1APA citations of two other articles considered – 1Search and selection Narrative – 2Summary – 2Two questions of the text – 1Quotes from text that address questions – 2Two references for later – 1
