Topic: The paper requires a search of the literature to learn more about a specific pain management method. You have been exposed to many patient conditions, their relationship with pain and various methods of controlling pain.  Note that the body of the paper is a maximum of 5 pages in length so choose a subtopic and focus the discussion so you cover it in adequate depth.  For example, you may want to discuss use of distraction or imagery in management of pain in labor, rather than a brief overview of many strategies.  You may want to focus on post-operative pain control. Your topic may cover pain control in a specific patient population. Please select on intervention (professional nursing intervention) that an entry level registered nurse could use in the management of pain for their selected patient.

Organization:

1. Introductory paragraph – brief overview of pain and the specific pain management strategy you will be discussing.
2. Body – history of the strategy; where has it been used successfully before; the science behind it; it’s applicability to pain in your selected patient; how you would use it in your practice regardless of the patient population you are working with.
3. Talk about cultural impact/appropriateness of this method. (Does it work for all backgrounds?)
4. Summary of what you see as the value (or not) of this specific pain management strategy.

Requirements

1. Use APA Style for formatting and citation. (Tip: use the attached rubrics as a checklist to ensure you have included all elements that will be graded). -> I can send to you by attached file let me know.
2. Must be word processed according to APA standards.
3. The body of the paper must be 5-7 pages in length. (So, my order will be like this. Introduction: 1 page, body: 5 pages, and conclusion 1 page. Please.)
4. Resources: read and cite a minimum of 3 journal articles. You may also use books other than your textbooks.   You may use internet sources (peer reviewed articles only) and your textbooks but journals and other books must be the primary source of information to support your thesis.
5. Choose professional nursing (Good Housekeeping and Time magazine are not examples of peer reviewed resources.) When in doubt, bring the information to me. (So, sources would be around 7-8 total, please.)
6. Resources must be dated 2011 or later. (PLEASE)
