Technical Details
Unitec makes use of cookies that has no ability to transmit viruses to the user’s computer. They tend to be specially allocated to the user and can be seen by the web server. The web server informs the cookie that the user has gone back to a precise page.
Unitec makes use of Windows. Here it uses MS-DOS for application of data. The OS has its own attitudes: Config.sys and auto+EXEC-asked (Unitec, 1998). The use of Windows 3.0 brings about the storage of files in a text mode, the INI files are much easier to organize and affordable. The interfaces are meant to restrict the operation of the software, taking to fact that the files can be used with other programs.
Improvements and Highlights
The Unitec site has contents and services that are sensitive to decency, ensures legality of the resources that used by third parties and keen on accuracy that leads to reliability to the users. The contents and organization are meant to meet and satisfy the needs the users and third parties that are connected to it. The site is however prone to external intrusion from viruses that may render the site useless.
The design of the site is divided into different portions that are visible to the users with links that direct it to other pages connected to it. The design is easier to use and makes it possible for the user to know where to get what they need fast this goes hand in hand with the page layout. The major issue that arises is that the failure of one area due to viruses renders the links useless and may be inconvenient to the users.
The navigation of the site is quite convenient to the users taking to fact that they offer the users instructions on what to do and where to go in case they need help. Additionally, there drop down options that issue the users with choices that are connected to a particular section. The site is however too congested and contains too much information that may be tedious to a user going through it and the navigation instructions are not well understood by the users.
The accessibility and usability as well as its ownership of the site are efficient and appropriate with the guiding laws the control it. Users are able to access different parts of the site with ease and are directed to other pages that they were not aware of (Unitec, 1998). Additionally its use is fast and software used is meant to prevent external interference, a good example is the cookies that are used in the web server and an effective OS that is easy to maintain. However, the accessibility and usability of the site is limited due to the time taken to open a page; the time is much longer and brings about inconvenience on the part of the user and going back to other pages are hard.
The recommendations that would better advance the site for the users and third parties as well as are varied; first of all the tedious and congested site could be limited to precise sections that are joint together by links. This is much more convenient to the users. The site could also make use of appealing visual aspects that attract users and keep them there. Additionally, the security of the site is vital as it would make sure the users are acquired and kept, this could be done by putting in place more strict policies than just acting when an action has taken place. This would be much useful. Lastly, navigation of the page could be made much easier with software that responds fast to internet connection.
