Modern Researching Summary Extra Credit
Personality Fall 2012
1.) Select a paper from a peer-reviewed journal article published between 2007 and 2012. The paper must
contain empirical results (i.e., report the results of an experiment or survey, not a review or opinion
paper).
2.) Post your summary to the ‘journals’ tab on Blackboard. You must also attach the article with your
submission. The summary must not be greater than 2 double-spaced pages (most of you will be able to complete
the assignment within 1 page). You will be able to achieve an extra 1.5 points on your final grade for each
posting and you will be allowed 2 extra credit opportunities (one due by November 1, and the other due by
December 1). The specifics of the summary assignment are below.
3.) You must write a summary of the research article with the following headings. Summarize appropriate
information from the article beneath each heading:
• Hypotheses – What was the purpose of the study(s)? .25
• Participants – Who were the participants or subjects of the study(s)? .25
• Methods: What were the important procedure(s)? .25
• Results and/or Discussion– What were the main findings from the study(s)? .25
• Discussion – Relate the content and findings from the article to material covered in the class (either the
textbook or class lectures) .5
• Attaching Article – .5 point deduction for not attaching the article.
