Medical tourism is on the rise, but the sector of medication tourism aka. prescription drug tourism is appealing to Americans because currently prescription drug cost are at an all time high! Being a tourist abroad for medication purposes will only burden the market domestically and internationally by creating access and care issues for locals in popular destinations, safety control as drugs in foreign nations arent regulated like America (FDA), and economical factors – if more people buy abroad then drug companies will raise the cost domestically to reconcile loss. Therefore, how can we bring medication/ prescription drug tourism to an end? Can this be achieved by: Regulation? Patents? Laws? Negotiating prices with Drug manufactures? Getting rid of Medicare Part D, so government can negotiate prices with drug companies and set tiers for medication and not the insurance companies do so? (underline portion are some ideas to solve issue – they’re vague and not in-depth solutions, but a starting point for better ideas)

This is a healthcare policy analysis paper. The purpose of a health policy analysis report is to find and define a health care problem, research it and recommend policies to resolve the problem. It is designed to define a PROBLEM that you want to solve through policy recommendations based on data and research studies.

The topic is Medical Tourism, but the subtopic I am working on is prescription drug tourism aka. medication tourism, which is someone going abroad to purchase their prescription medication in regions like Asia (India or Thailand), North America (Canada and Mexico), Central and South America, and Europe.
