Managing International Recruitment.
As a human resource professional specialising in global organisations, you will likely help your organisation determine how to handle issues such as
international recruitment and selection of human resources. In doing so, you may need to determine which approach to international recruitment will
best serve your organisation. Paul Sparrow (2007) conducted research on several different approaches to international recruitment and selection.
These approaches demonstrated a disparity of policy and practice between the organisations being studied, with each resulting in different issues and
challenges.
In this Individual Activity, you will critically analyse these approaches to international recruitment, identify other current trends and strategies
being used, and determine how you would undertake recruitment for the organisation described in your Final Project. This Individual Assignment will
be integrated with Part III of your Final Project: People Plan, in which you will prepare a critical analysis of empirically based HR strategies
related to sourcing and human capital management.
To prepare for this Individual Assignment:
Review the readings for this unit, especially Sparrows Globalization of HR at Functional Level: Four Case Studies of the International Recruitment,
Selection and Assessment Process. Consider the approach taken in each of the case studies. What overall impact did it have on the organisations
international recruitment efforts? Which approach might fit your organisation, and what considerations would you have to take into account when
implementing it?
Conduct some individual research on current trends and strategies being used in international recruitment by global organisations. Which trends and
strategies could you incorporate into the international recruitment plan for your organisation?
To complete this Individual Assignment:
Create a critical report in which you address the following:
Evaluate the international recruitment approaches described in Sparrow (2007), including their impacts on the organisations.
Using the approaches identified in Sparrow (2007), choose an approach that best fits your organisation.
Include a discussion of the strategies you would use to mitigate any challenges the approach might bring.
Critically analyse some current trends and strategies in international recruitment. Identify which trends and strategies you would consider
incorporating into your own international recruitment plan and explain your rationale for including them.
Support your Individual Assignment with references to at least one or two scholarly resources that you have researched. You should also incorporate
your own experience as a practitioner in the field into your response.
Be sure to include references to all sources, including your readings in Harvard Referencing Style.
Please this work should have 1. Introduction, 2. Subheadings, 3. Conclusion etc.
INSTRUCTION 2: Succession Planning
As a human resource professional in a strategic role, you may responsible for identifying strategies for your organisation to use for retention of
personnel. In this Shared Activity, you will take on the position of a human resource professional and determine what internal talent management
strategies to employ in your plan for the internal replacement of a new senior executive to oversee the growth unit of your organisation.
To prepare for this Shared Activity:
Review the readings for this unit.
Imagine that you are a human resource professional in a strategic role who has been tasked with creating a succession plan for a senior executive to
ensure the growth of your organisation.
As you think about how you would go about creating this plan, take the following questions into consideration:
What sourcing and internal strategies would you include in the plan?
What talent management strategies would be useful to include in the plan?
What are the potential organisational implications of including both sourcing and talent management strategies? How might they impact your
organisations overall culture?
What other considerations would you take into account when deciding which strategies to recommend for the plan?
To complete this Shared Activity:
Create a discussion post in which you explain how you would prepare a talent management and succession plan for the senior executive.
Identify sourcing, recruiting and talent management strategies you would include in the plan.
Evaluate the potential implications of these strategies on the culture of your organisation.
Respond to your colleagues posts by asking questions or offering additional insights or suggestions.
