This is an introductory assignment designed to allow you to learn the basics about creating web documents using XHTML. You will build a short & simple web page to provide basic information about you. Specifically you must have at least two paragraphs of text. (For this assignment, a paragraph MUST have at least 5 separate sentences.)
THIS IS AN INDIVIDUAL PROJECT
All of the tools you need to complete this project have been covered in the class lectures. Please refer to the posted slides on Blackboard.
Please format your content to fit on one screen shot.
NOTE: YOU MUST INCLUDE NEW INFORMATION – BEYOND YOUR EXTRA CREDIT / EXTENSION PROJECT
– Paragraph 1 must provide the following information:
o background about you, including where you went to high school and when you graduated
o why you are attending SDSU
o something interesting about yourself.
Be sure to include information about all 3 pieces that is easily able to be discerned from reading your web page.
– Paragraph 2 must discuss:
o what your major is
o at least 2 specific examples of how companies in your major/career path use information systems to provide a competitive advantage
o what your ideal job would be after you graduate – using the skills learned in this class 🙂
Do a thorough job of researching, analyzing and writing this material. You must provide specific and thorough content.
THE QUALITY OF THE CONTENT WILL BE GRADED
Recommendation: Assemble the different components you need to include on the page – write the text, get image file if needed, decide what content you will put in your list, etc. Develop a prototype layout – do a rough sketch that includes all required elements. After you are satisfied with your prototype, enter the code into your editor. “TEST” your webpage to ensure that all pieces work together (e.g. does the email link work?)
Remember…
– You MUST create your web page using Notepad or another plain text editor.
o You may not use an HTML or XHTML editor for your assignment – this means FrontPage, DreamWeaver, or any other XHTML/HTML editor available via download or online (such as HTML Tidy).
o This also means that you may not use any editing programs that convert your text into html – for example, you may not use the Save As Web Page option in Word.
– Use must write your web page code using the XHTML strict standard covered in class.

You must include a photo of yourself.

If all of the required components are not included in your web page, or if they are not working correctly, you will lose points. Additionally, your page must be visually pleasing (e.g. don’t have all the text cluttered together) and be free from spelling and grammar errors.

Name your XHTML file with your Last Name + Initial of First Name + A7Webpage and the correct extension (e.g. GaylesAA7Webpage.html)

Check your file using the XHTML validator (http://validator.w3.org) to ensure that you have followed all of the programming rules correctly. For full credit, you must pass successfully using the XHTML Strict Doctype tag
