Literature Analysis Assignment
You must complete two (2) literature analysis assignments.
The first assignment is due in the Role Challenges, Collaboration, and Conflict module. (I NEED TO DO THIS ONE FIRST)
The second assignment is due in the Ethical, Legal, and Social Concerns in Health Care module.
Each literature analysis should pertain to the topics discussed in the module in which it is due. Each literature analysis should be two to three (2-3) pages in length and should be formatted according to APA standards.

Purpose: to Enhance Critical Thinking Guidelines
I. Each literature critique should consist of:
A) A one paragraph comprehensive summary of an article’s content
B) A critical analysis which is your written opinion of a book, periodical article, issue position, etc. The emphasis is on making a judgment about the ultimate worth of the work.

The development of your critical analysis involves identification of author’s proposition/thesis and main ideas, the supporting evidence for the main ideas, the author’s form of reasoning, and your evaluation of how the author uses the facts to argue the position taken. Your criticism will be either an endorsement of the author’s work or a non-endorsement with specified strengths/limitations included.

Questions You Should Ask in Your Role of Literature/Issue Critique
1. What is the author’s thesis/proposition?
2. What are the main ideas present in the work?
3. Does the author present verifiable facts as supporting evidence?
4. Does the author present a one-sided/biased approach or a well rounded/fair approach?
5. Does the author provide sufficient evidence for the position taken?
6. Does the author provide adequate documentation for stated facts?
7. What is the author’s form of reasoning (Inductive, deductive, Generalization, Analogy or Cause and Effect)?
Some helpful explanatory statements
Inductive – from facts (specifics) to a general conclusion
(persuasive)
Deductive – reasoned (opposite of inductive) the ability to ascertain
if given conclusions appropriately follow pieces of
information
Generalization – from general principals to specific predictions
justifies that findings for one group can be used
for a similar situation
Analogy – means similar things.
Cause & Effect – 1 variable determines the other
8. Does the author raise questions that are left unanswered?
9. Does the author present a bandwagon approach to issue? (“Everybody feels”)
10. Are the author’s conclusions based on facts and appear sound?
11. Is the author’s writing style, one of orderly presentation of ideas, smoothness, economy of expression and concise?
12. What is the author’s level of expertise in the subject area?
13. What is the purpose of the periodical that published the article?
14. What is the periodical scholarly level? Is it a peer-reviewed publication?
15. Do endorse this work for nurses in the advanced practice role and why?
16. Do you not endorse this work for nurses in the advanced practice role and why?
17. What relevance does the work have for nursing administration, advance practice, research, education, or policy development?

II. The article must be published within the past five years, preferably from the present or past year, and from administrative aspects perspective. The articles must be available full text online. Suggested sources are:
