Introduction to the U.S. Health Care Delivery System

I like the way Shawna Brewer has discussed the two important issues that affect the health care system in the United States currently. She has been able to isolate the two fundamental issues and he has listed the as lack of a central agency as well poor access to health to health care. He has identified through credible sources (Shi & Singh, 2008) that a high population of people in the United States are uninsured and this has contributed to the health care system. He has identified that most of the citizens cannot afford payment of the high fees associated with health care system and hence they receive poor quality as a result. Shawna expounds that most of the Americans wait till their health problems become a little bit more complex that they have to visit the emergency room as a result of this is ignorance.
The growth in the industry cannot be compared to the ease of accessibility of medical service to the public due to lack of a central regulation agency and the poor access to health services. This has been compounded by the fact that a big population has got no access to medical insurance (Shi & Singh, 2008).  The American health care system has been viewed to be very expensive and it would seem very ludicrous to suggest otherwise. The healthcare system has constantly failed to provide accessible and high quality health care. The models in existence are not functioning normally. Therefore, the system needs re-design, gladly this has been aIDressed with the enactment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care (PPACA) which was signed to law in 23^rd March 2010 and whose main mandate is to redesign the delivery system and therefore fundamentally alter how healthcare is delivered and organized. This way the delivery system will be more patient centered than currently when it is provider –centric.
What I like about Shawna’s work is the use of materials he has choosen. He has used government statistics to compile his facts and shape his thoughts. The relevance of the materials used is superb because they are recent articles so they reflect a recent position on the issue.
