In this kind of essay, the aim is to explain the causes (reasons) AND the effects (outcomes or results) of an event or situation. The paper is an examination, analysis of a trend, phenomenon, problem, issue, and so forth that informs. Is there a causal chain involved as discussed in the text?
In the introduction, provide the necessary background to introduce your reader to your topic, and then write a thesis statement that clearly indicates what the paper is about. Remember, the introduction begins with general information leading into a specific, concrete, vivid, and interesting thesis statement. Does your topic have significance? Likely so, therefore, you can discuss that in the conclusion.
Write a full 3 page paper (within 3 to 4 lines of the bottom of paper 3) on your chosen topic that lends itself to a cause and effect paper. Follow the Modern Language Association (MLA) format by using Times New Roman 12-point font, 1” margins, all double spaced, and so on as discussed in class. Write in the objective third person, and do not use “you,” and do not use contractions.
In this paper, you are striving for clarity, unity, coherence, good organization, solid and vivid development, and a distinct style; i.e. writing voice
