And from the workers that exchange their labor power in return for a means of subsistence. He gives an example of two owners of commodities. They both part with goods that, as use-values are of no service to them and receive others that they can make use of. “This act produces no increase of exchange-value either for the one or the other; for each of them already possessed, before the exchange, a value equal to that which he acquired by means of that operation”. Exchanging a commodity for another does not give the owners of the commodity extra value for their commodity.
