Implementing Higher Level of Security on College Parking Lot

Abstract

It is with great concern that measures ought to be put across on the implementation security in the parking lot.  Security for the college parking lots should in this case be the first issue to look into as it has been getting a lot of security concerns even to press which has degraded the reputation of most of the college. Therefore, in this research proposal, the study shall succinctly look into the methods that will be engaged in maintaining security within the parking lot in the colleges. Also the measures or the schedules that will be aimed at maintaining the implemented methods will be discussed and this will be compatible with the qualifications required for the personnel who should maintain security (Purpura 25).

Introduction

Learning institutions upholds incomparable amount and diverse of individual information. Regarding this fact, and in relation to the broad array of activities, we frequently decentralize the nature on the way they carry out their functions. As they continue developing and offering services to the public, they significantly face security threats within their operations. Unfortunately to the present day the institutions, particularly the colleges have failed to tackle the challenges and this has compelled a need for a research on how to probe into the issue and come up with a concrete solution. Therefore, there is a need to look into this matter in order to safeguard our colleges for a better tomorrow (Purpura 35).

Methods

Installing security light

In most cases lack of security lights within the pathways, dark corners and around the parking lots may associated with the criminal acts happening in colleges. Installing security lights within the places will in one way or another enhance the effectiveness of the guards in the institution. Illuminating on the dark areas during the dark periods may help suppress the rate of insecurity in these places. Also the CCTV installation will also help the guards identify any unusual operations that may be happening at such night hours. The illumination by the surveillance systems which be mounted on high positions so as to illuminate on all the required areas and this may deter people from committing crimes along this places (Purpura 95).

Layout of the parking lot

The layout of the parking lot can in a way lead to insecurity around the parking lot. Poorly structured layout will be an advantage to those whose want to cause chaos in the institution for their own gains. The positioning of the layout should increase the effectiveness of the parking guards who should an access to all the area within the lot. A clear view is required so that the guard the place even from a far distance (Purpura 65).

Alarm response

The areas near the parking lots should be installed with alarm signal which should be set in a way that, they should alert the relevant people if anyone comes near the parking lot. This should not only be on parking lot but on the areas that are out of bound in the college. The guard should have detective gargets which the alarm should detect and not screech out.

Guard surveillance

Lack of adequate security in the parking lot within the organization is caused by low number of patrol guards within the parking lot. An organization may be very big within only one surveillance guard who is required to patrol the whole area.  In curbing insecurity within this areas their ought to be an increase in the number surveillance guards in control of the parking lot. It is also my proposal that the maximum area covered by the college should take the required number of the guards (Giles 150).

Schedule

Measures should be put across concerning implementation of high level of security within the parking lot. The schedules will govern the parking lot in order to harness security within the colleges. In this research proposal, vehicles should be parked where there is maximum illumination of light as this will curtail any harmful act which may take place in the dark place. Also their should be parking fee which will be used in improving the parking lot. Also paring licenses should be offered to those parking their vehicles. Besides adding the number of surveillance guards, a schedule should be implemented that allows the guards to work on shifts, when one is not there the one is the look out (Giles 40).

Qualifications

Qualified personnel are 1required who should well understand the structure of the college and implement on the areas which requires renovation in order to suppress on the in insecurity debates in the society. The employees –guards should also be qualified as they should be able to take a quick action about anything happens within the institution without involving the management (Purpura 55).

Conclusions

Implementation of high level of security measures in colleges is a function that should be embraced with intense as lack of it may mean joking with lives of people. I strongly advocate for the management of the parking lot as it will also enhance favorable environment for learning. The management should be aware though in risk are not only the students but also their individual properties. They should then take an initiative of implementing better security services within the college (Giles 100).
