Dear Lakelvia,

I would first like to thank you for allowing me to read your essay over writing strategies. Your paper is written in APA format I do not have a lot of experience writing and reading articles in this format, so this was a great opportunity to expand my knowledge.

To start, your thesis is very easily spotted at the end of your introduction paragraph. You state, “The feature of the chosen audience are then analyzed, including the shared set of values, assumptions, and the methods they use to communicate their goals hence guides the writer on the perspective and language to use to attract their attention.”(1) Keywords from your thesis are found throughout your writing, I had no trouble in following your writing. Each of your paragraphs clearly states the claim and relates to your thesis.

Next, I can tell by your references page that your paper is very well researched. However, you are missing examples from the academic essays by Thonney and Williams/McEnerney. I believe your claims would be better explained with examples of these strategies in action. Your paper could not only explain what writer uses to attract the attention of their audience, but also show examples of what it looks like. For example, in your 3rd paragraph, you explain to tailor to a specific audience the writer has “to understand what appeals to the audience”(3) You can easily add an example of Thonney catering her writing to the needs of her audience, she wants her writing to speak directly to professors to teach first-year writers.

Overall, I could not be more impressed with how well you research and explained your argument. The only thing I would change is switching the transitions you use to give your paper a more diverse flow.
