The human resources department plays a vital role in mergers and acquisitions by analyzing the cultures of the merging organizations for compatibility, helping to

manage fear of change, and managing changing roles and structure. In a time of such change, human issues are often overlooked, especially in regard to cultural and

systems methods. This may be a contributing factor to the failure of mergers and acquisitions to produce benefits.

For this assessment, review the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) video, “Once the Deal Is Done: Making Mergers Work,” which you were assigned to view in
