Introduction

The introduction of the internet in the end of the twentieth century, introduced a dawn to a completely new world. The internet has proved itself to inflate its activities through social, economic and political aspect. Nowadays, its growth has been exponential, as it has spread its wings through out the entire world (Castells, 2001). It has influenced the lives of many making them addicted to it and deceiving them that it is the solution to their problems. This text examines how the internet has proved itself a bad plague that has refused to be terminated. It is remarkable how the internet has manifested itself in the society and making people believe that the existence of life is impossible without the internet. The reason is that it has propagated its effects in the endeavors of the human life (Castells, 2001).

The internet cannot be condemned without stating the positive impacts that it has established in the life of the human race. The first impact is that it has reunited the whole humanity even from different cultural and background interaction. This impact is as a result of the mode of communication that it has established. Moreover, it is believed that the internet has enabled the world to be one global community that is united through simple communication. This is because nowadays communication is possible from any corner of the world even in the remotest part of the world (Julie, 2007). These types of mode of communication include instant messaging, email, video conferencing and chat rooms.

However, as the internet is receiving all the credit on how it has managed to make the message transfer and information easy, the internet can be condemned for making it possible for existence of rogue programs, viruses and plagiarism in the life of many scholars. According to this text, one will realize that the negative impact of the internet overwhelms the positive aspects. The major impact of the internet is the availability of plagiarism of the works of people in the education sector (Comer, 2006). This has been seen as making the lazy students be more lazy and making them lazy to attempt researches for themselves. Moreover, the lives of the children are being threatened with the easy access of pornography on the internet. This is because the earlier the child is exposed to pornography, the earlier he indulges into sexual activities.

One economic negative impact of the internet is the introduction of viruses and all those harmful software that are related to malwares. Many of these viruses are introduced to the computer through emails while others invade the computer when one visits a website that is infected. Once a computer has been infected, the probability of losing data and stored information is high (Julie, 2007). Moreover, this information might be very vital to the owner of the computer. Another economic effect of the internet is that it promotes laziness in the work places. This is because the introduction of the social sites such as tweeter and facebook has made the society be on the verge of communication with their friends. This is even propagated in the work places.

Conclusion

The introduction of the internet has affected the society both positively and negatively. This text has managed to strip the internet off its positive effect by showcasing the negative effects overwhelming the positive. The people who are on the brink of getting deceived by the internet are the youth. This generation is growing up to discover that everything is driven by technology. Moreover, they will be made to believe that the internet is the only way of communication. The transition has already taken place; it is realized that there are some countries whereby letter writing does not exist, and only people believe in email writing.
