Having completed the assigned readings, you should now have a basic understanding of the characteristics and components of the U.S. healthcare delivery system. For first half of paper, conduct additional research as needed and prep a 4 page paper to address the following questions: USE SUB HEADINGS Discuss the interaction of the major components of the U.S. healthcare system on (1) Access to Healthcare (physically and financially), (2) Healthcare Expenditure, and (3) Quality of Care. Answer the questions from the perspective of two of the internal factors and one of the external factors identified in the module Home page. Case Assignment Format Cite all sources and provide a reference list at the end of the paper (include at least three references). The paper should be 4 pages typed APA format. For the second half of the paper ( 4 pages) Explain the type of health insurance coverage you currently have (you do not need to provide the name of your insurance company): Insurance Product (e.g., HMO, PPO, POS, Indemnity, or others). Source (employer, government, parents, or others). Out-of-pocket costs: co-payments and deductibles. Level of coverage (e.g., 100% coverage or 80% coverage with 20% coinsurance). Major limitations on choice of providers. (a) Are you required to choose a primary care physician? (b) Are there limitations on use of out-of-network providers? (Refer to your insurance handbook or website and include details.) Explain the process of seeking healthcare (starting from making an appointment to receiving all the required services) under your health plan for the following scenarios: You need to have your annual physical examination. You need to see a specialist (e.g., ophthalmologist, neurologist, or orthopedic surgeon). You need to be admitted to the hospital for elective surgery (non-emergency).
