This paper argues that fast food is the main cause of obesity and explores three arguments. The main points include fast food results in aIDiction; fast food restaurants target children, increasing childhood obesity; and disappearance of healthy food make fast food as the best alternative to healthy diets.

Fast food results in increased aIDiction because they are convenient and cheap. Fast foods are increasingly becoming the best alternative to making food at home. For example, fast food aIDiction reduces health breakfast consumption for working people. Fast foods have questionable nutritional contents, which increase the risk of become obese when a person is aIDicted to fast foods. Research has affirmed that constant consumption of fast foods increases the risk of becoming diabetic and having heart failures, which are health conditions associated with obesity. Fast food diet comprises of high saturated fats and calories that are served in large portions. This increases the culture of over eating, resulting in obesity through high calorie intake. Consuming fast foods twice a week increases the risk of being obese by 50 percent.

The second reason why fast food is the main cause of obesity is the increasing occurrence of childhood obesity because of fast food advertisements. This imposes significant influence on the food preferences and food habits among children. This is evident in the fact that food commercials like sweetened beverages, candy, snacks and other convenience foods aim at enticing children. Fast food advertisements serve to encourage the masses to consume high calorie foods. The prevalence of obesity is further increased by the fact that they are easily obtainable and economical.

The third reason why fast food is the main cause of obesity is that it results in the disappearance of healthy foods and diets.
