The purpose of this paper is to interact/interview someone who has been affected by family violence.  Who this is and how they have been affected is really up to you and should be left “anonymous”.  The purpose of the paper is to speak with someone and learn about his or her experience, reaction, short and long-term effects, coping strategies, etc.  This person can be someone who has been a victim/survivor, someone who has been a perpetrator, or even someone who works regularly with victims and perpetrators.  If you so choose, you can explore your own personal experience(s) with family violence.  You choose the person, you choose the type of family violence and you choose the questions you ask.  This assignment is designed to explore the personal experience of family violence through communication and active listening.  It is not about judging or blaming; it is about learning and hearing.  This paper should be 3-5 pages in length. Resources are not necessary although they can be included if you want. The final part of the paper is a reflection of what you learned from doing this assignment, did anything surprise you, did what you hear match up with class discussions and class resources or was it very different
