you give summaries of different points that Nussbaum makes but you do not discuss any of them in detail. You also seem to confuse some of these points with one another. Going forward it is important to remember that: 1) you need to argue for a specific thesis and 2) you should not discuss something unless you discuss it in detail and it is relevant to your thesis.

Every time I wrote it was a bit grander, many good arguments were just taken out and disappeared without really or detailed analysis and demonstration. This may be the reason for the low score

Write a 3 to 5 page paper in response to the following prompt. Your script should be double spaced, 12pt text.

Time and the Self: In what sense does Velleman think that our ideas of an “enduring self” and of the “passage of time” involve illusions? Can we avoid suffering by achieving a more accurate understanding of our relationship to time?

Before writing your paper, make sure you make a plan. Also, it may be helpful to review the “writing a paper” checklist slide that we discussed in the first class (available on the course site under files/slides and handouts).

Papers are due Sunday October 25th by 11:59pm. As always, you should explain the ideas you are discussing in your own words. If you use someone else’s words in your paper, be sure to indicate this clearly (e.g. with quotation marks), including a citation of the original source of the text.
