Briefly discuss the importance of both terms and how they affect the way we do personal evangelism in a contemporary world (200 words).

God controls evangelism hence it is important to ensure a good relationship with him. God-man relationship affects efficiency of personal evangelism in the contemporary society in different ways. One way is that our total dependence on Gods Holy Spirit to guides us (McRaney, p.26). Secondly, the death of Christ provides the only route to salvation.

In the contemporary society, conversion is completely dependent on the techniques and schemes used by the evangelist. God is needed to enlighten us that the result is paramount to the method used. The belief has also led to use of extreme method during evangelism (McRaney, p.4). This is immoral because the techniques used tarnish the name of the church and don’t reflect Gods character. However, God is the only one who can make us have positive desires through guiding us and being the perfect example.

Gods plan was to spread the gospel to human beings through fellow human beings. Because of this reason, a good rapport among human beings is indispensable. Communal living means that all persons are respected irregardless of spiritual status (McRaney, p.17). Unconditional respect narrows down the possibility of some people faking spirituality to hasten the conversion process in bid to impress God and others. By respecting each other, we increase the chances of successful evangelism.

Evangelism must have motive, meaning, manner and method. The motive is spreading Gods word to believers and non-believers (Earl and Wheeler, p.39). It is offering hope of salvation through repentance and forgiveness to non-believers. Manner in evangelism is treating both believers and nonbelievers with same respect just like Jesus did (Earl and Wheeler, p.38). Being an evangelist means being Christ’s ambassador and sharing your knowledge of the gospel to all. Evangelism is addictive precisely because it is a source of joy to the receiver and giver of the word (Earl and Wheeler, p.9). Evangelism is also a life business like any other therefore the ambassador should learn to remain focused.

A true evangelist obeys God’s commandment and acts according to God’s will (Earl and Wheeler, p.18). Evangelism means sacrifice at all cost. Sometimes, one should be ready to solely represent Christ. Other times, culture may harbor evangelism but one should be confident and stand for what’s biblically right. Evangelism is being a humble and a role model as well as being active and not isolating oneself (Earl and Wheeler, p.299). Evangelism is sharing life testimonies. It is a process of explaining Gods faithfulness and love for us via the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Earl and Wheeler, p.58). It is working with others and leaving a legacy. The power of evangelism should never be underestimated. Lastly, evangelism is a challenge in this generation (Earl and Wheeler, p.30).
