Chapter 8 emphasizes the need for legitimate studies to prominently publish confidence intervals, sample size, sampling error and confidence limits. This discussion will require that students find an example in the media that prominently displays the metrics required for a legitimate study. 

“You estimate population parameters by using either point estimates or interval estimates.  A point estimate is the value of a single statistic, such as a sample mean.  A confidence interval estimate is a range of numbers, called an interval, constructed around the point estimate.  A confidence interval is constructed such that the probability that the interval includes the population parameter is known
