Final Project – Three Case Studies & Student Reflection Survey

Assessment Context: This assessment is used at the end of the fifth week of the course in the M.Ed. Educational Leadership program. The assessment measures the understanding of how to develop action plans to facilitate family/community engagement with the school through effective communication strategies. The minimum passing score for this critical assessment is 79.5 points.

Note: This course includes this assignment as a critical assessment documenting your learning on the national standards listed below. Please see the course syllabus for further information on the critical assessment policy. It is important to review the materials below and the critical assessment rubric before you begin this assignment.

Part 1: Final Project – Three Case Studies

The goal of this course is to examine the key principles necessary for a successful linkage and communication among all organizational and community stakeholders, and focus on the development of specific skills and strategies candidates can immediately use to link their current workplace and community environment in the most productive partnership possible.

Because the goal from the onset has been mastery, one way to determine if mastery has been achieved through practical assessments. For this culminating activity, you will demonstrate your mastery of forming school and community partnerships in your responses to three case studies.

After reading Final Project – Three Case Studies (Concordia Online Education, n.d.), respond to the first two cases. For the third you will choose either the option for public school personnel or the one for non-public school personnel. Your responses should be in one document with three sections and should do the following:

  • Write a substantive plan of action for each scenario.
  • Include fact-finding ideas, communication ideas, and possible results.
  • Be specific with your plan and provide your rationale for each step.
  • Name specific publics you will work with and why.

Use APA format, cite your sources, and include references at the end of your paper. Prepare this paper for publication; edit for semantics, syntax, and conventions. This is a professional product you may use in your practice or to demonstrate to a selection committee your expertise in creating school and community partnerships.

Part 2: Student Reflection Survey

As part of our continuous improvement of the M.Ed. program, we are interested in knowing your self-reflection on various statements about students, teaching, and education. Although the survey itself is not graded, you must complete it to receive a grade for this course.

You will be prompted to complete this survey when you submit your critical assessment to Taskstream. For instructions on accessing the survey form, click the Taskstream link in the course menu. You will not be able to successfully submit your critical assessment to Taskstream without completing this survey.

This course includes this assignment as a critical assessment documenting your learning on the national standards described below. For information on the critical assessment policy, please review the course syllabus. Be sure to review the rubric for the assignment.
