When it comes to training and development, the Bible has plenty of key principles that can be implanted into the work place that will help drive and achieve business goals. The first of three principles would be applying oneself to the task at hand. Colossians 3:23-24 (ESV) states that whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord not for men. When it comes to training and development on the job, employees have an obligation to apply themselves as they are receiving wages for their best efforts on the job.

The second is to understand how things work together. In the New Testament there is no more radical story of personal change and understanding than the Apostle Paul (Lawrenz, 2015). The change of heart and mind that Paul experienced was life changing as evident in the New Testament writings. When it comes to training and development, applying oneself and understanding how things work together in the organization can be life changing not only for the employee, but as well as the employer. The third would be modeling others; there is no greater example in the history of the world than Jesus Christ. He was the model that every believer strives to be, regardless of the opposition of our fallen state. In business, modeling involves having employees who already have mastered the learning outcomes demonstrate them for trainees (Noe, 2010, p. 143). I chose these three principles as it involves both leader and follower to have effective training and development of employees.
