Project description
Your audience for this paper is undergraduates who are studying in the discipline that you have chosen or undergraduates who are considering studying in that discipline (Civil Engineering) . Your purpose is to inform your audience of the changes that are occurring in the rhetorical practices in the discipline so that they can be prepared for those changes during their academic careers. The insightful point in your paper is your interpretation of how the rhetorical practices of the discipline are changing in response to cultural pressures.
Begin with an analysis of the standard or traditional rhetorical practices in the discipline. This can include all of the communicative practices in the discipline . The RAIDS and SWAP models can help you to identify the rhetorical practices that you need to analyze. The RAIDS and SWAP models are meant to help you see and talk about the important rhetorical strategies in your discipline. It is not necessary that you talk about each of the nine categories in your paper. Use the ones that are important to your argument about the changes that are occurring in your discipline . Include in this section of the paper the rhetorical analysis of one journal article which was published within the last ten years.
Then in the second part of the body, argue in support of your prediction of how a cultural pressure is causing , or will cause, changes in specific areas of the discipline’s rhetorical practices. Be specific about how the Raids and SWAP characteristics will change as a result of the cultural pressure. Include in this section of the paper quotations from at least two scholarly articles found in the electronic resources.
Another required research source is an interview with someone who has authoritative knowledge of the discipline and its rhetorical practices. A visual must also be included along with a work cited page.
This paper should be at least five full pages long and no more than seven full pages.
