Deductive And Inductive Reasoning

A deductive argument tends to work from the generalized to the more specific. It often referred to as a top-down approach informally. The conclusions that are made in deductive argument follow logically from the facts that are available. A deductive approach can be taken on the statement traditional publishing has been rendered unnecessary by the rise of digital publication. Electrical publishing which is also referred to as ePublishing or digital publishing involves the publication of e-books, electronic articles, digital libraries and EPUBS.It is becoming a common trend to distribute books, newspapers and even magazines directly to readers through tablet reading devices. This has been generated by vendors who operate online like Apple iTunes bookstore and books in the android market among others. Market researchers have made suggestions that most of the magazines and newspapers that will be in circulation will be done through digital means by 2015(Sader,2004). The publishing sector has also been immensely affected by the digital revolution, since practically everything is going the digital way then it can be deduced that also the publishing sector will be affected. This means that the traditional publishing is being rendered useless due to the rising improved technology. More and more good sellers have recorded success in electronic publishing this enable the deduction that traditional publishing is gradually loosing face since every one is aiming at increasing their publications and sure successful way to do it is through the electronic publishing system. Most of the publishing companies are also considering making agreements with these electronic publishing networks like Apple so that they can increase the publications through them and eventually no more traditional publishing will be done (Rothchild, I. 2006)

An inductive argument tends to move from specific observations to broader generalizations and theories. It can be referred to as a bottom up approach informally. The conclusion made is likely to be made from the premises that have been presented. When a deductive argument is taken on the statement traditional publishing has been rendered unnecessary by the rise of digital publication. Various premises can be used to support this argument these are for instance the fact that there is improved technology. Another premise is the fact that there is variety of fields that can be encompassed in electronic publishing which are scientific and also fictional works. Readers can access writing from different areas such as encyclopedias, DVD or CD, technical and reference publications are common with mobile users. A quick way for gratification for people who are fond of reading till late night is also another premise. Another premise is the fact that these electronic publications are easily available and convenient they are greatly rendering these traditional forms of publications quite unnecessary.. Great speed in accessing information is another premise since the reader can just buy the publication and easily download it after payment. This is done without any form of transportation from the house or place of work. This is tax free and also free from any expenses in terms of freight charges (Rothchild, 2006).all these can be used to make a conclusion that electronic publishing is increasingly becoming popular and will soon outface traditional publishing.

The fact that the world is increasingly becoming more and more advanced in technology is a general deduction to make when considering the reason why the electronic publishing is facing out traditional publishing. This deduction is made in the perception that since there is a revolution in the digital system then there is no doubt that the publication system will also be affected and impacted by these changes.

Inductive arguments on the other hand can be from predictions. For instance the fact that there is increased versatility of the forms of electrical publications that exist then it can be predicted that more and more publishers and readers will tend to be inclined to the electronic form of publication since it is increasing in popularity. Another type of inductive argument is the extrapolations of unknown to known, the fact that there are a large number of readers who do not want to be inconvenienced in terms of getting the materials they want to read and getting it as quick as possible and conveniently ban be used to make the induction that many people will turn to electronic publications since they offer all these. It therefore safe to conclude that an inductive approach is the best when making the conclusion on the fact that electronic publishing is rendering traditional publishing useless.
