Goals and objectives

The goals and objectives of the course are to understand network architectures, applications, and protocols. It also aims at having a comprehension of the processes of networking research. That is, thought and constraint processes involved in the field of network researching. It also important that learners have the skills of formulating problems, approaching them, and analyzing the results involved in the process of networking. Finally, to differentiate between network programmers and researchers, this is part of networking at the undergraduate level.

Achieving the set goals and objectives

Each of the units has reading materials that students ought to complete. There are descriptions of the materials that are relevant to the course. Each unit will have specified activities that are relevant to the completion of the course. Assignments and continuous assessments are also part of the course work that will require completion by the students. All units will have group discussions and submission of reports is mandatory.

Assessing the goals

Assessing the goals and objectives will require continuous online assessments. Students have to submit their assessments within the stipulated time. There will be discussions held over the internet whereby all students have to attend their group and submit reports. Thereafter, after the completion of each course, each student has to attend a sit-in evaluation held on physical classrooms. This will ensure that there is an assessment of the advance that the students make after e-learning computer networking.

Approaches of achieving each goal

Tutorials of computer networking require 16 hours of participation. There should be notifications of the dates and times of different units. Continuous on-line assignments will be necessary to have a close follow up on the progress of students are making. The tutor will mark the assignments and mail them to individual students. This is to ensure that students know their weak areas that need improvement and the tutor understand the areas that students are facing challenges.

Methods used in covering the objectives on a face-to face course

On a face-to face course, students attend lectures on physical lecture room using stipulated periods and activities. They attend laboratory session to cover the activities necessary in the covering of the course. Students attend continuous assessments in respective classes having both take-away assignments and sit-in evaluations. Finally, all examinations after the completion of each unit are mandatory. All students have to attend the evaluation and upon the marking by tutors, colleges will use the result as a determinant of whether each student achieves the set objectives.

Changes required

Transforming the on-ground course to on-line can be challenging. There are some details used in the on-ground training that will be necessary in the on-line course. They include evaluation, which is challenging to have online. Having an on ground evaluation will be necessary. On the other hand, there will be no need of having on-ground lectures. As such, all lectures and continuous assessments are possible online. Laboratories activities are also possible online but require partial attendance of on-ground sessions.

Organizing and developing e-learning content

It is vital to use simple to complex content organization while at the same time applying the alphabetical instructional content since it is the most reliable. This is necessary given that learning is efficient from simple to complex and that students are conversant with alphabets from an early age. Presentations over the internet might be challenging but with the help of video conferencing, it becomes simpler. Manuals are also necessary in the developing and organizing the e-learning content.
