Consider what you have learned about your classmates through the discussion forums at this point in the class. Separate your classmates into three groups (be creative in your group criteria). Write a short, introductory letter to the members of each of these groups welcoming them to the class (three letters in total). Try to point out how, based on the criteria you set for each group, this class will benefit the members of each group (some classmates may appear in multiple groups).
Hint: There is a sample letter on page 270 of the textbook that should help you format this assignment. These letters are meant to be brief (a paragraph or two), so don’t imagine you have to mirror the length of the example. Also, APA formatting is not a requirement for this assignment (nor is it appropriate)
Option play: If you cannot find the data on your classmates, or if you are working ahead, you may choose to write your letters to three of the individuals in the following list, or, if you’re up to it, you can make up your own demographic group or groups:
A technical writing student A 90 year-old grandmother A military wife A girl still in high-school who is taking this class for college credit A Four-Star General A welder trying to get an education so he can get a better job An unemployed father A genius 12-year-old boy who finished school early A prison inmate taking online college courses while serving time
