Challenges of Global Economic System During the Great Depression Discussion

Based on your knowledge in this course so far, what lessons do you think the world should learn from:

A. the two global wars of the twentieth century (your analysis must include the lessons from the various theaters of war)

B. The Great Depression

Your answer must specify what these lessons are (or if lessons could not be learned at all) and which groups, persons, or nations these lessons should be applied to. Remember you must provide specific examples and analyses with evidence to support your answer.

1. How did the communist country you selected become communist? Discuss the rise of Fascism in a second selected country. Finally, describe how the third country you selected experienced the Cold War.

2. For the communist country you selected, what role did foreign intervention play in the communist revolution which took place there? Explain the foreign influences which gave rise to the fascist government that came to power in the second country you selected. Finally, how did the leader(s) of a third country you selected respond to the Cold War?

1. Discuss women’s rights and the feminist movements, their successes and failures. Your work should include a discussion of the recent #MeToo development. How do you reconcile these developments in feminism over time?

2. On July 4th, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution carried an op-ed piece idolizing those Americans who fought for independence from the British. The authors appreciated the contributions of freedom that the world has enjoyed under American leadership. However, in their conclusion, they also praised Western colonization as a good faith effort to help less fortunate nations in Africa, the Middle East, America, and Asia. To what extent do you agree or disagree with these assessments? Why?

3. Although religious fundamentalism cuts across all religions some people still see extremism only as an Islamic problem. What do you think and why? Your supporting evidence could be drawn from the entire course material.
