There are many case studies of organizations that have adopted an appreciative approach to leadership. One article by David Cooperrider and Michelle McQuaid, “The Positive Arc of Systemic Strengths” details the impacts of six case studies where leadership took an appreciative approach to bring their ‘whole system in the room’ (which is one way to practice distributed leadership by literally inviting all stakeholders to have an equal role in the strategic planning process) using the specific AI Summit method to address specific leadership challenges; they got extraordinary results.
Using the examples from this article, reflect and analyze the case illustrations using the following guiding questions:
