Climate change

The focus of this paper is to provide an analysis of climate change as a global issue. The paper looks at an aspect of climate change that has been addressed in the United Nations conference in Durban. The topic in this case addresses the issue of global warming and its effects on the environment. The paper finally provides a concluding paragraph that summarizes the contents of the analysis.

Climate change is simply the change of the environments climatic conditions. The environment is filled with natural features and resources that maintain its correct temperature. This temperature should not be tampered with in that it is pivotal for the sustainability of human life. Over the years, the earth has succumbed to human activity which is harmful to the natural state of the climate. This activity reduces the value of the environment making its lifespan reduce as a result. There are several effects of climate change that the general population faces. One of the factors that the globe faces is the issue of global warming (Metz, p. 265).

Global warming is the change of the earth’s normal temperature. This change is brought about by the activity of living things in the environment. The biggest culprit in this case is the activities of human beings. Over the years human beings have coexisted with each other. This coexisting is responsible for interaction which resulted in globalization. Globalization is the interaction of different communities due to development. Globalization exposes society to a number of advantages which contribute the growth and sustainability of the earth. Despite the immense advantages that come with the trade, globalization is responsible for the increase in global warming (Metz, p. 214).

Globalization contributes to the increased urbanization which in turn increases the demands for household commodities. House hold commodities require substances such rich in carbon dioxide to be functional. These substances are emitted through the use of refrigerators, vehicles and vacuum cleaners. The use of these substances is harmful to the environment due to their reaction with the other gaseous substances. One of the results of these reactions is the depletion of the ozone layer. The ozone layer serves as the protective layer of the earth’s atmosphere. The depletion of the ozone results in the exposure of dangerous ultraviolet rays to the environment. These rays are hazardous to the safety of human beings due to the dangerous effects of the sun. This in turn, contributes to the exposure of human beings to eye problems, skin cancer and improper functioning of the body.

Biodiversity is an important aspect in terms of the future of the environment. Biodiversity represents a variety of species in the earth’s environment. It is essential to sustain this element so as to improve the environmental conditions. The ozone layer is therefore one of the most significant features to the future of the earth’s living creatures. Its presence is pivotal to the sustainability of all living things in the environment. The future of these species continues to be threatened due to the climate change. The Durban climate conference addresses the future of biodiversity and the effects of climate change. The conference has proved to be disappointing due to the lack of corporation by western countries. This is ironic because the western countries are infamous for the emission of carbon products to environment. It is thus ideal for such countries to recognize global warming a threat to the future of living things (Griffin, p. 143).

In conclusion, the environment is responsible for the safety of all living creatures. As human beings, we are responsible for the proper maintenance of the environment. The United Nations conference is ideal for the monitoring of human activities. Countries should thus be encouraged to observe the rules and regulations of the conference so as to improve the present climatic conditions.
