Write a Research Proposal (1,000-1,500 words) on a topic relevant to the course. To complete the Research Proposal, do the following:

 

Review the Topic 7 lecture section on The Results and Discussion Sections in the Research Proposal for a brief overview pertaining to “how to” complete the assignment.

 Introductory section: Include hypothesis and a review of the literature. Methodology section: Include subsections on Participants, Apparatus/Materials/Instruments, Procedure, and Design. Results section: Include statistic, critical values, degrees of freedom, and alpha level. Discussion section: Include interpretation of results, ethical concerns, limitations of study, and suggestions for future research. Appendices section: Include a minimum of two appendices (either two figures, two tables, or a figure and a table).

 

6.    Include at least six to eight scholarly references

 

Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

Soon you have to turn in a research proposal. The proposal has to be 1,000-1,500 words on a topic relevant to the course. A COMPLETE proposal will have the following:

 

 

 

1. Introductory section- this section will have the purpose, objective, hypothesis and specific aims of your research (how you plan to test your hypothesis). You also need to include a review of the literature. Some tips with writing a strong introduction is to always adhere to the instructions in regards to what the section should be composed of. This section is used to set-up your proposal/introduce your reader to the topic and field you are working with. Since your proposed experiment should be aiding to fill some scientific gap, it is your job to use the literature to tie in what the problem is, what has previously and currently been done to address the problem and how your proposal will add to the body of literature on your topic. Do to word limits; this section should be concise but detailed. When writing proposals fluff and fillers are not helpful. Get right to the point!

 

 

 

2. Methodology section- this section should cover HOW you plan to carry out your experiment/test your hypothesis. You should include subsections with descriptions on the number of participants used in your study, what statistics you will use,any apparatus/materials/instruments you will use, and your procedure/experimental design ie how you plan to physically carry out your experiment.

 

 

 

3. Results section- this section is where you STATE WHAT YOU FOUND. Include statistics, critical values, degrees of freedom, and alpha level.

 

 

 

4. Discussion section- this sections is where you DISCUSS WHAT YOU FOUND. Include interpretation of results, ethical concerns, limitations of study, and suggestions for future research. Use this section to tie your hypothesis, experimental design, and results all together. What do your numbers mean? What are your conclusions? You should also include a sentence of two regarding the future direction of your research. Make sure you show how your research ties into a bigger picture to add value to your chosen scientific area.

 

 

 

5. Appendices section: Include a minimum of two appendices (either two figures, two tables, or a figure and a table).

 

 

 

6. Include a minimum of two scholarly references

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I cannot stress enough how important it is to have all of the components listed. It not only makes for a strong proposal but it aids in understanding/ visualizing the complete picture.
